The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 安静克制不煽情的祖孙情，片内每个人都那么温暖，新西兰的男孩淳朴阳光，他的好友们也可爱良善。老太太年轻时酷帅走天涯，年老时是个有钱优雅老太太，能有一个这么好的护士尽心尽力照顾，而最后在自己最爱的日出的旷野里，在相互温柔以待的家人们和护士的环绕中安详离世，真，幸福。。。新西兰的山野天高地远辽阔峻美。。。
整部影片里没有以往日剧里那种细节的温情，反而有了很浓的矫情和极强的割裂感。

这是我见过最生猛的奶奶：满嘴脏话、怒怼神父、杯子扔孙子、曾用刀扔儿子，两周两箱松子酒兑水喝、一言不和就给人一拐子、指导孙子的着装调侃他没有女人、每次她拿下垂的眼睑看着任何人的时候我都能想象出年轻时的她是多么独立和优秀。
站在半上帝人生的视角，或许会发现，你的人生一直都很好
同樣是生離死別的老梗，同樣的花俏手法，但拍得還是比台灣和韓國的一些社會濫情片好很多，完全勝出一個檔次。
绝症恋爱的设定比较平庸，治病导致的家庭影响细节还挺真实的。松本穗香特效装有牺牲，中岛健人依然演技捉急。
