The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 政治正确含量要爆表了，但就是非常打动人，尤其是「机长自述me and the sky」和「我是岛民」。
是谁在刷CFA？是我。是谁在哭泣？是我。是谁在跟着唱？是我。是谁在跺脚？是我。啊啊啊啊啊啊啊啊啊啊啊啊啊啊啊啊啊啊啊啊啊啊啊啊啊啊
音乐这种东西真的很能够拉扯人的情绪，每次看到这样的电影版音乐剧就总想去现场看看，毕竟隔着屏幕看就已经足够震撼。911事件是沉重的悲伤的，而故事就设定在刚发生了这个事件之后的一个加拿大小镇上，但剧作没有让观众完全沉浸在悲痛中，在这之中时不时加点小幽默或人与人的情感链接，真让我体验了一次悲喜交加。整个剧作的歌曲和编排都很完美，通过灯光的颜色来切换场景，演员们也都是一人分饰n角（n≥2），以服装动作神态语气来切换角色，太强大了，我还是到差不多最后面才发现原来中东人阿里和凯文0是同一个人，水平之高毋庸置疑。剧作特别聚焦到这样一个小镇上，将恐怖事件与小镇人的热情作对比，人性的善与恶两个极端冲突，摆在观众面前，批判恶的同时不忘宣扬美。人们抱团取暖，由此促成的一世友谊，异地爱情实在令人感动。
Apple TV+对于Disney+《汉密尔顿》的回应（这里单指确认购买，并以独占原创内容进行推广），调性和整个品牌大多数节目所聚焦的人性、同情心、积极讯息很搭，所以仍然认为它是目前最优秀也不“屈服”于算法和数据的流媒体（果吹两秒）；而在“911”的二十周年播出，也赋予了这个剧作更恰当的时机与意义（还有弥补了去年被退票的遗憾）。没有人会是一座孤岛，在最绝望的时刻，也能找到属于这个世界的温暖；人人真心相照，勇敢地唱颂；去记住那些属于我们原始而又共同的力量，专注寻找而非计较失去。最后10分钟，不停地沸腾，也忍不住跟着跳动。

节奏很紧凑，在一个小空间内能把一个互帮互助的紧急事件演的幽默又感动。
CFA在我这里的位置很尴尬，甚至我觉得它有些外百老汇了。为了me and the sky还是加一星。

四星半。片子会带给不同人不同的解读，可以有反对对性工作者遭遇的美化，可以有反对支持性服务合法化的观点，也可以看到，正是基于片中女主自我探索的过程，才无法让角色性别互换，恰恰是因为这种性别安排，更巧妙的展现了女性的困境，性只是表象，枷锁的束缚与解除才是内核。艾玛汤普森演技太棒了。
我太喜欢了 我真的好羡慕导演能写出这样的对话内容 可能就是情色和色情的区别 我想到了火口的两人 这没有什么可耻的。最后那一幕很妙 或许只有女主自己才能取悦自己。“我很高兴你来了”
① 我旗帜鲜明地拥护将这项服务变成公共事业 ② 豆瓣简介真的有点裹小脚了，Sex Worker就是性工作者，没必要说是性心理治疗师 —— 心理治疗师不用自己身体治疗别人，是用谈话，好吗？ ③ 这部戏虽然都在室内，却很注重人物关系之间的情绪流动，这情绪不止是欲望、连接，还有我最喜欢的一部分 “冲突”。它讲的故事其实本质上是不要惧怕冲突，冲突过后是有可能走向更自我接纳、放松和彼此知道对方的界限后的自由。 ④ 我觉得其实它把2个人之间的故事说好就可以了，野心大了一点，涉及到育人和代际，就有点隐没了主线了。但瑕不掩瑜，依然是一部难得的以女性主体视角为唯一角度的佳作。

1st July 2022。首先要表揚一下只靠幾乎對話表情能撐起整個劇本和故事的兩位角色的演技！其次 作為一個女性觀影 看完之後覺得有點什麼但仔細想要說點什麼 卻啞口無言 想作為自己劇本的主角恍然大悟自己根本沒有劇本好像放在每個人的故事中的npc的一生 遇到這麼一次冒險（有待考究這個冒險的定義）是一次「神秘的禮物」賦予的感動。

终于看完了这版。几度流泪。我将永远相信残酷现世中存在的人性文明之光。
从另一个角度写911事件的加拿大音乐剧，二十几位中老年专业音乐剧演员展现了精彩的技艺，值得观看。有点像我们5、60年代看的法国电影《四海之内皆兄弟》一样，展现了灾难面前人类的团结、奋斗精神。在豆瓣评论中看到一篇讲述911事件全过程的记述，则是我的最大收获。会转到朋友圈和微博，供有兴趣的朋友阅读。
