The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? With a keen eye and fresh take, Aselton’s directorial debut shines with crisp storytelling and fine-tuned performances. 评分应该在7分以上，除了男主哮喘的设定有些多余其他的部分没毛病！
全胜在故事绕，出乎意料地反转又反转，还是草灰蛇线叙事法，除了主线剧情电话里的求救者的故事，主角自己也有故事。杰克杰伦哈尔就是很会选剧本，但这部电影他的肢体语言和面部表情在我看来都演绎过火，他姐夫就只露了把声都比他更真实。
以吉伦哈尔的实力，其实并不需要用这样的solo剧来证明自己的演技。不过这也算是疫情时代，自己参与制作保证有作品的一种方式。表演为主，画外音的情节也不必多推敲了。
落魄之人拯救落魄之人，拯救了他，也救了自己。其实这个命题也不新鲜了，电影本身的精彩度有限，这样的叙事可能小说更加意味深长。作为电影，拍摄手法聚焦在男主的演技之上，估计是朝着最佳男主的目标去的。
如果是人格分裂或者催眠的故事，虽然很俗气，但也无功无过。如今这剧本在现实主义和超现实主义之间来回逡巡试探的模样真是丑陋得可怕。
