The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 萌新小正太和摇滚乐队，大提琴和重金属演奏，看似毫不相干的组合却擦出了最绚烂的火花。虽然主题还是很老套的校园边缘人物通过组织乐队赢得比赛并在准备得过程中克服困难化解矛盾找回自我和自信之类的东西，但还是拍得挺有趣的。男主看着斯文瘦弱表演起来却充满野性，女主之前看似腼腆内向换上哥特妆后完全变了个人，连胸前都这么有料，这些反差都很不错。为了登台表演把乐队名字直接给改成花骷髅了也挺逗。男二这个角色还挺有意思的，能不顾别人的看法活在自己的世界坚持自己的热爱也是一种很让人羡慕的境界。

抛开吵架抓马的部分，音乐和幽默还蛮不错的音乐青春片，精神病院那一段有笑到～看完很想复习School of Rock和Singstreet了，与时俱进的部分大概是男二的中性（no binary?)
为啥我觉得不好看，本身很喜欢看青春校园电影的，而且叠加音乐
居然能我让我对重金属产生一种强烈的代入感，这片做到了。
以音乐为背景，透过重金属摇滚乐来宣泄青春时代的躁动。有些情绪，确实只有通过摇滚才能精准传达。
三个倒霉蛋破坏加油站任务不成，一路逃亡躲入银行劫持人质…南非黑人平权运动，略平淡。
重金属大提琴太灵了吧！比起skullfucker，skullflower更适合这三个中二少年嘛！
想到摇滚校园。一部用金属摇滚🤘🏻讲的校园故事，不需要玩出花，简简单单也就够了。不过最后两首歌挺好听的，大提琴万能啊哈哈哈哈

除了音乐种类小众外，每次这样内容故事都差不多剧情。。
想起了唱街，更加贴近我们年青时候，也更搞笑。
纯个人看法:美国最蠢的两种东西(青少年和重金属）在一起造就了这么一部特别的口水片 纯粹杀时间还是可以看得下去的。我这该死的的求生欲啊……
这都哪找的小哥哥，但凡台词超过五句的都好好看。只可惜比赛的歌真不行，实在不是老派（？）重金的受众。青春期中二病就是讲究象征大于意义，那种台词儿是怎么正经念出来的233
革命者确实是伟大而尊敬的！不过那个克莉丝汀就显得很假
别具一格的青春片，剧情很简单，但是围绕着青春的叛逆古怪和热血贯穿全片，尤其是重金属演唱时超带感，三个主角都颜值在线啊，7分。
青春啊，重金属啊，两者结合就挺好的，歌曲和背景音乐都不错。
摇滚青春荷尔蒙……无疑此片表达部分对重金属音乐的致敬。其实很是感慨，作为在美国发扬光大的摇滚乐，加上电影业领先全球，却很少有与摇滚乐的电影，优秀的就更加稀缺，此片偏重于重金属。
片尾，根据真实事件改编，历史上促成释放曼德拉的三位勇士照片出现的时候忽然热泪盈眶，为了自由，可以付出一切。
